On Friday September 22, 2006 Greg Ihlenburg signed a contract to play with the Wilmington Sharks (Wilmington, NC) of the Coastal Plain League (CPL).

Ihlenburg will spend the 2007 summer playing against other college players from across the country.  The CPL has become one of the most popular collegiate summer leagues, and has seen many of its former players move on to professional baseball.  Ihlenburg becomes the first Eagle to sign a collegiate summer baseball contract.  The CPL begins play in late May and runs through the beginning of August.  In 2006, Ihlenburg hit .370 with 9 doubles, 2 triples, a home run, 32 RBI's, and led Reinhardt in stolen bases with 17.
