
It has been an outstanding four years for Lee University senior middle blocker Bruna Langner. Last week she was named the Southern States Athletic Conference Player of the Year and this week Langner garnered the Region XIII Player of the Year honors.
It has been an outstanding four years for Lee University senior middle blocker Bruna Langner. Last week she was named the Southern States Athletic Conference Player of the Year and this week Langner garnered the Region XIII Player of the Year honors.
While Langner was receiving her second award, junior Katie Thornton was also saluted for the second time. The native of Peachtree City, Ga. was selected as the Region XIII Setter of the Year. Earlier, Thornton had been named the SSAC's best setter.
Senior Ligia Zobolli, also a key reason for coach Andrea Hudson's success over the past four seasons, joined Langner and Thornton on the All-Region XIII team. Kelly Fridge of Loyola University (New Orleans) was listed as the Region XIII Libero of the Year.
Other members of the All-Region team were Berry College's Meghan Francis, Jamie Boze and Shawn Carroll. The University of Mobile had Syretta Baldwin and Whitney Knight selected. Loyola's Mary Seals joined Fridge on the squad, while Brittany Harden (Faulkner University) and Katelyn Barnes (Southern Wesleyan) rounded out the all-region squad.
The Lady Flames will be making a return trip to the NAIA National Volleyball Tournament next week. The event is being held in Columbia, Mo.
