Montgomery, Ala.—Brett Teach has resigned as the head coach of the Auburn University Montgomery men’s soccer team and accepted the position of head coach at Tusculum College, an NCAA Division II school in Greeneville, Tenn.

Teach spent seven seasons at AUM and led the Senators to the NAIA national playoffs six times. The Senators finished as the NAIA runners-up in the national championship in 2000, 2001 and 2004 and advanced to the Final Four four times and the Elite Eight five times. Teach’s AUM teams compiled an impressive 139-21-6 record (.855) making him the school’s all-time winningest men’s soccer coach.

Teach also spent four seasons (2000-03) as the head coach of the women’s program, leading the Lady Senators to a 55-25-5 record (.676), including a program best 20-4-1 record in 2002.

A total of 23 AUM players received All-America honors during Teach’s tenure. That includes the two-time NAIA Brine Men’s Soccer Player of the Year, Hjortur Hjartarson. A total of nine former AUM players were also named to the NAIA All-America Scholar-Athletes team.

Teach was the NSCAA/adidas NAIA National Coach of the Year in 2000 and was the Southern States Athletic Conference Coach of the Year six times (2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006). He was also named the SSAC All-Sports Male Coach of the Year in 2001 and 2002.

“We wish Brett the best with his new position at Tusculum,” Interim Athletic Director Steve Crotz said. “He has done an outstanding job at AUM and lifted this program to a higher level than it had been before his arrival. He has put AUM in the national soccer spotlight with the job he has done.”

AUM will begin a national search for Teach’s successor immediately. Crotz said he hopes to have a new coach in place in time for spring workouts.
