The Auburn University Montgomery baseball team has been voted the preseason favorite to win the conference crown by the Southern States Athletic Conference's head coaches in a poll released by the SSAC on Thursday. The Senators received seven of the possible ten first-place votes. Lee University came in second with one first-place vote and Southern Tech was third with the remaining two first-place votes.

In November, AUM was picked by the NAIA preseason poll as the fifth ranked team in the nation. Last season, Head Coach Q.V. Lowe directed the Senators to a 49-20 record, the NAIA World Series for the third time in school history, and AUM was ranked third in the final poll of the 2006 campaign.
