Montgomery, Ala. —On Saturday morning, Auburn University Montgomery’s No. 1 ranked men’s and women’s tennis teams both won championships at the Blue & Gray Small College Tennis Tournament at the Lagoon Park Tennis Complex.

The AUM men defeated Freed-Hardeman University 5-3 while the women also took a 5-3 win over Freed-Hardeman.

For the AUM men, Anton Brykalin and Daniel Plasa lost the first doubles match 9-8 to FHU’s Alberto GonzalezHver CSrdeman a hard fought 5-4 and Francisco Redondo. Nicola Miskovic and Victor Sanaki Papi also lost the second match 8-5, but Tim Mudrick and Alex Petropolous won the final match 8-4. Plasa, Brykalin, Sanaki Papi, and Petropolous all won their singles matches to pull out the victory. AUM’s season record improved to 14-1.

On the women’s side, Tereza Veverkova and Hanna Kuervers won the opening match 9-7. In the second match, Kamila Dadakhodjaeva and Nadia Lysak took an 8-4 victory while Yudeshnee Pillay and Rachel Dunlavy took an 8-6 victory in the final doubles match.

In singles action, Ververkova and Kuervers each won their singles matches to take a close 5-3 victory. The victory moves AUM’s record to 18-0.
