KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Two men's soccer players with Top 10 programs headline the NAIA Men's Soccer national weekly honors, announced this afternoon. Brandon Cave of Fresno Pacific (Calif.) was announced as National Defensive Player of the Week while Ricardo Pierre-Louis of Lee (Tenn.) was named National Offensive Player of the Week, for the week ending on Sunday, Sept. 9.
Pierre-Louis, a 6-1 senior forward from Leogane, Haita etched his name in the Lee University record books with his efforts last week. He became the school's all-time leading goal scorer in Saturday's win over Covenant (Ga.) with his five goals. Prior to that, he notched three goals and one assist in the 5-0 shutout of Belhaven (Miss.). For the week, he totaled eight goals and 17 points in two matches for the 6-0-1 Flames.Holding 87 career goals, Pierre-Louis now has 14 goals in just seven matches this year. He had earlier been named the SSAC and Region XIII Player of the Week.
Cave, a 5-10 junior goalkeeper from Fresno, Calif., recorded two shutouts in net for the Sunbirds. Both victories were 1-0 blankings at then-No. 10 Judson (Ill.) and at then-No. 2 Rio Grande. He was in goal for all 180 minutes and totaled seven saves during the week. He was a big reason for his team's leap from No. 18 to No. 7 in this week's Top 25 poll.
