
Brewton Parker College’s Tasheena Brown has been named the SSAC Volleyball Player of the Week for the week ending September 23. Brown, a junior from Jonesboro, Ga., averaged 5.0 kills per game and 5.5 digs per game as Brewton Parker went 2-2 on the week. Brown’s best offensive performance of the week came in a 3-0 victory against Edward Waters College where she had 22 kills.
Winning the SSAC Setter of the Week award for the second
time this season was Lee University’s Katie Thornton led the Lady Flames to a
3-0 week, which included a hard fought 3-2 victory against Shorter College
where she totaled 39 assists. For the week, Thornton, a senior from Peachtree City, Ga.,
averaged 8.58 assists per game and 2.92 digs per game.
The SSAC Libero of the Week award went to Lee University’s
Lindsay Shein. Shein, a 5’3 freshman
from Lighthouse Point, Fla., averaged 4.83 digs and added five
assists in Lee’s three victories last week.
Other notable performances:
Holly Hutchinson (Faulkner University): Hit .429 and averaged 3.33 kills/gm and 5.5 digs/gm in 2-0 week.
Carrie Butler (Faulkner University): Averaged 4.83 digs and recorded two assists in two wins.
Shawn Carroll (Berry College): Averaged 3.72 digs and had eight aces in five matches.
Kristy Walker (Shorter College): Recorded 55 and 49 assists in two five game losses.
Callie Bynum (Brewton Parker College): Averaged 8.67 assists/gm in 2-2 week.
Shaleen Knight (Faulkner University): Averaged 8.67 assists/gm in 2-0 week.
