Lee's Nick Odeny took home the Southern States Athletic Conference's Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week Award this week. Meanwhile, Berry's Teja Barkmann earned the top-honors on the offensive side of the ball.

Barkmann had two goals and two assists during the week as he helped lead the Berry team to sole-possession of first place in the SSAC standings. Barkmann broke the early deadlock against Southern Wesleyan when he dribbled past the SWU goalkeeper in the 22nd minute and fired home a goal to make it 1-0. Less than four minutes later he provided the assist on Alejandro Palacios' game winning goal, as the Vikings piled on five first-half goals against the previously unbeaten Warriors. The assist was one of two in the game for Barkmann, who finished the game with four points against the SWU team that is recieving votes as one of the best in the country in the NAIA.
Barkmann was also a key for Berry in its local rivalry match against Shorter. With Berry trailing 1-0 in the second half, the senior from Herne, Germany volleyed home a cross from Palacios to tie the game at 1-1 and inpsired Berry's 2-1 come-from-behind win. With the two wins Berry claims sole possession of first place in the SSAC with 15 points from a perfect 5-0 league record. That puts Berry three points ahead of Southern Wesleyan, which has 12 points with a 4-1 mark in the SSAC.

Lee did not play a conference match this week, but instead took on a tough out-of-conference foe in LIndsey Wilson. The two teams where once Region XI rivals when Lee was a member of the TranSouth Conference. The No. 4-ranked Flames battled tough against the No. 8 Blue Raiders, but fell short 2-1. Despite the loss, Nick Odeny was singled out by his coaches as a top-performer in the match. The senior from Nairobi, Kenya produced a solid performance that kept his team in the match against a highly-ranked opponent.
