Lee University, last years SSAC runner up and Region XIII champions, are the coaches’ choice to win the 2008 league baseball title. The Flames received 94 points and five first place votes in the preseason poll. Lee posted a 51-15 record last spring on their way to a NAIA World Series appearance. Southern Polytechnic is picked second with 84 points and three first place vote. The two final first place votes went to Auburn-Montgomery, champions of the SSAC last spring. Faulkner is picked fourth in the balloting followed by Berry, Southern Wesleyan, Reinhardt, Shorter, Brewton-Parker and Emmanuel.
The SSAC baseball season will consist of a three game series played between each of the teams and conclude with the SSAC Postseason Tournament on May 23-26 in Montgomery, AL at AUM.
Points were assigned on a 10-1 basis and coaches’ could vote for their own team.
