SSAC Commissioner's Cup

This all-sports award is given each year to the institution that totals the most points based on each school's finish in conference championship competition. The highest point total (1st - 6 points, 2nd - 5 points, etc.) for six sports from the regular season standings in team sports and conference championship tournaments in tennis, golf and cross country are divided by 6 for an average point total.

Musco Lighting Sportsmanship Award

This institutional award recognizes one male and female athletic program for display of their high standards of sportsmanship and fairness and equity in contests and relationships.

In addition each championship sport will have its coaches select a team during meetings where the All -Conference awards are selected. Each institution earns points throughout the year and standings are kept towards this annual institutional award.

SSAC All-Academic Awards

These awards are presented to all student-athletes who excel in the classroom. Nominees must have completed two terms of attendance and earned at least 24 semester hours of college level work, have attained a grade point average of 3.25 or higher based on all courses attempted at the current institution and from all previously attended institutions attended, and be participating in his/her sport during the semester in which the nomination is made. The Conference SID prepares certificates for those being awarded and coordinates their presence on the web page.

Musco Lighting Champion of Character Awards

This award will be provided to one student-athlete per team for each sponsored sport with the recipients selected by the coaches of the teams following each season of competition. Student-athletes should be selected based on the criteria outlined in the NAIA Champions of Character Programs which is based on the following:

  • Respect - Those associated with sport show respect by treating themselves, other persons, institutions and their sport according to the highest standards of conduct. It implies civilized and gracious behavior to players, coaches, fans and parents.
  • Responsibility - Athletes show responsibility by making academic progress toward graduation their top priority. They solve problems rather than make excuses, and are reliable team players. Students should be accountable for their actions and decisions.
  • Integrity - For student competitors, integrity means keeping commitments and conducting honest behavior and student-athletes must know and understand the Student-Athlete Pledge.
  • Servant Leadership - placing the group first and becoming responsible for personal and group roles while performing at your best…having a primary purpose of serving others while striving to become a personal and team leader as well as provides a critical service to society and the great gift of good example.
  • Sportsmanship - high standards and demonstrate fairness and equity in contests and relationships.

Musco Lighting Honor Student Athlete Awards

Each member institution will recognize one male and female student athlete from their institution and forward those institutional award winners to the conference as their nominee for the SSAC Honor Student Athlete Awards. The institutional winners and those eligible for these top two SSAC awards should be selected based on the following criteria:

  • Quality GPA (determined by institution but encouraged to meet or exceed a 3.5)
  • Community Service
  • On the Field Excellence (must be a contributor to the success of the team)
  • Tenure at Institution (must have competed and been in residence at that institution for two years)
  • Must have displayed the virtues of the Champions of Character program which are shown above.

ONEPATH SSAC Male and Female Athlete of the Year

The male and female athlete of the year is selected by a committee appointed by the commissioner. The athletes are choose from those selected in each SSAC sponsored as their respected athlete of the year for their sport. The two athletes are presented with a plaque at the annual spring meeting.
