Hawks cross country repeats as SSAC Champions

Rome, Ga. - It's hard to get better than first, but the Shorter College men's cross country team found a way on Saturday as they took the top spot in the Southern States Athletic Conference tournament at Stonebridge Golf Course with a perfect score of 15. The Hawks took all five of the top spots to advance to the National Tournament in two weeks.

This summer, we traveled to Mammoth Lakes, Calif., which is nestled in the Sierra Nevada Mountains at roughly 7,500 feet. The initial purpose was to train at high altitude for a month with many others on our team in order to benefit us physically and prepare for our upcoming cross country season. However, it turned out to be much more than we expected.

Berry Ready to Host Region XIII Cross Country Championship Meet

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. -- Berry will be the host for the 2007 Region XIII Cross Country Championship Meet on Saturday. The men's 8-kilometer race will begin at 9 a.m. followed by the women's 5K race at 10 a.m.

 
The meet will determine the two teams, one men's and one women's, that represent Region XIII in the NAIA National Championship Meet. In addition to the winning team advancing to the National Championship Meet, the top-five runners that are not members of the winning team will also advance to the NAIA National Championship Meet.
