CLINTON, Miss.-It was a big day for the Shorter University cross country teams as the Hawks claimed both the men's and women's Southern States Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday morning at Choctaw Trails. Both teams punched their tickets to the NAIA National Championships in Vancouver, Washington on November 19th.

Rome, Ga. - It's hard to get better than first, but the Shorter College men's cross country team found a way on Saturday as they took the top spot in the Southern States Athletic Conference tournament at Stonebridge Golf Course with a perfect score of 15. The Hawks took all five of the top spots to advance to the National Tournament in two weeks.

This summer, we traveled to Mammoth Lakes, Calif., which is nestled in the Sierra Nevada Mountains at roughly 7,500 feet. The initial purpose was to train at high altitude for a month with many others on our team in order to benefit us physically and prepare for our upcoming cross country season. However, it turned out to be much more than we expected.
