AUM Duo Wins ITA Doubles Super Bowl

MOBILE-The doubles tandem of Alberto Gonzalez and Michael Johnson have won the ITA Super Bowl and will now move on to the NCAA Indoor National Championships hosted by Yale University on Nov. 3. The duo will face doubles teams from the best teams of NCAA Division I teams at the indoor championships.

AUM Men's Tennis Wins Conference Tourney Championship

ROME, Ga.-The Auburn University at Montgomery men's tennis team defeated Lee University 5-0 to win the Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament Championship.  The Senators had defeated Shorter College 5-0 on Friday in the quarterfinals to make it to the championship.

AUM swept all three doubles matches by the same scores of 8-2 and got the necessary singles wins from Monte Tucker and Nikola Miskovic to bring home the crown.

AUM Tennis Teams Win On and Off the Courts

MONTGOMERY-The tennis programs at Auburn University at Montgomery have won 17 national championships between them. The women's program has won five consecutive championships and the men's team has won the past three championships.

 

Those championships are not the only thing the tennis teams have been successful in as both programs have become involved in community projects. This year the teams have participated in events such as reading days at area elementary schools and free tennis clinics.

AUM Senators Beat Sunbirds 5-3 to Win Third Straight Championship

MOBILE, Ala--The Auburn-Montgomery Senators claimed the 2008 NAIA Men's Tennis National Championship by hanging on to defeat Fresno Pacific Friday evening.

The win gives the AUM its third straight championship and fifth in the last seven years.

Auburn-Montgomery jumped out to a 4-1 lead and looked like they would run away with the crown, but the Sunbirds of Fresno Pacific kept clawing away and made a match of it. The Senators took No. 1 and No. 2 doubles by scores of 8-6 and 8-5, respectively and that set the stage for a crucial doubles match for the Sunbirds.
