Brenau Cross Country Team Treats the Troops

Gainesville, GA- The Brenau University cross country team collected 90 dozen cookies for Treat the Troops and raised $200 in donations for the postage.  They helped to fill 119 boxes that will be shipped to the troops.  Each box contained five dozen homebaked cookies, handwarmers, hot chocolate packets, magazines, handwritten letters from students from various schools in Hall and Forsyth Counties, candy and personal hygiene items.

The project was organized by Coach Susan McIntyre, who has participated in Treat the Troops for several years and believes strongly in the importance of supporting our Armed Forces during this time of the year.

Shorter's Justyna Mudy wins NAIA Cross Country National Championship

VANCOVER, Wash. - In sports, nothing is ever guaranteed.

With that being said, Shorter College harrier Justyna Mudy may be the closest one can come to a sure thing.

The diminutive, redshirt sophomore from Poland added to her already impressive resume by capturing the medalist honors at the 2009 NAIA Cross Country National Championships presented by Nike at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site in Vancouver, Wash.

Brenau Runners Volunteer for Girls on the Run

Suwanee, GA- The Brenau cross country team stepped in to fill a need with Forsyth County Girls on the Run Sunday and took care of the timing of the 5K race held at Lambert High School.  In the mission statement for GOTR they prepare girls from 3rd to 8th grade for a lifetime of respect and healthy living through a 12-week program of two-one hour sessions per week of training to complete a 5K run. Their goal is to harness the power of running to develop self-esteem and a lifelong committment to nutrition, exercise, teamwork and community service.

Berry Women's Cross Country Team Wins SSAC Championship Meet

ROME, Ga. -- The Berry women's cross country team advanced to the NAIA National Tournament by winning the Southern States Athletic Conference Championship Meet Sat. morning at Stonebridge Golf Club. Paul Deaton was named SSAC Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year. Justyna Mudy of Shorter was the individual meet champion and the SSAC Runner of the Year.


The Berry women finished with 40 points to edge out Shorter by three points in a race that was close all-around. Lee was third on the women's side with 47 points. On the men's side Shorter won with a perfect score of 15, while Lee was second with 51 points and Berry had 61.
