Auburn Montgomery Nabs No. 1 Spot in Women's Tennis Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Defending national champion Auburn Montgomery (Ala.) narrowly held off last season's national runner-up Fresno Pacific (Calif.) for the top spot in the 2012 NAIA Women's Tennis Coaches' Preseason Top 25 Poll, the national office announced Tuesday. The Lady Senators hoisted their seventh national title banner in the last eight years and 11th in school history by defeating Fresno Pacific, 5-3, in the championship match in Mobile, Ala., on May 21. Auburn Montgomery picked up six of the 10 first-place votes and earned 247 total points.
Southern States Athletic Conference Player of the Year Ana Veselinovic has earned First-Team All-American honors.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. ---- Auburn University at Montgomery women's tennis standouts Ana Veselinovic and Jade Curtis each earned First-Team All-American honors, while Morgane Zowczak was selected to the All-American Second-Team, when the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics announced its 2011 All-American teams on Tuesday. Junior Kveta Hajkova was also named an honorable mention All-American by the organization.
The AUM women's tennis team defeated Fresno Pacific 5-3 to earn the 2011 NAIA Women's Tennis National Championship.

MOBILE, Ala. ----- Despite playing the entire season with only five players on its roster, the Auburn University at Montgomery women's tennis team captured its 11th national championship in the program's history, as Morgane Zowczak sealed a 5-3 victory over Fresno Pacific in the NAIA Women's Tennis National Championship on Saturday at the Mobile Tennis Center.
SSAC Player of the Year Ana Veselinovic and the Lady Senators defeated Brenau on Saturday for the SSAC Tournament title.
