Jackson was selected based on her performances from Jan. 23 - 29 and was chosen out of a pool of conference/independent/unaffiliated groupings. The weekly honor marks the first of the season for Jackson.

Norcross, Ga. - Technically it can be said that Lee University for the seventh consecutive year has been voted by the coaches to win the SSAC women's basketball championship. Lee was voted to win the overall conference in a very close vote over Shorter University. The coaches in the East Division, however, have predicted Shorter to win the East Division.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has selected Matt Buren of Trinity Christian (Ill.) College and Kelly Ellison of Shorter (Ga.) University to receive its prestigious Emil S. Liston award. This year's award, which is given annually by the NAIA and Daktronics, recognizes one male and one female basketball player based on scholarship, character and playing ability. Since 1950, the award has honored the memory of the NAIA's first executive director Emil S. Liston. Liston was the founder of the National Association of Intercollegiate Basketball (NAIB).
